Transparent PPF protection film on the chainstay of a black bike, against chain slap

PPF stands for Paint Protection Film: strong, transparent film originally made for car paintwork. More and more cyclists apply PPF to the spots that get damaged fastest. Our film is self-healing: small scratches disappear with heat, for example from the sun. Having it fitted professionally quickly gets expensive. With our pre-cut sets, you do it yourself.

  • Transparent PPF protection film at the head tube of a black road bike, against rubbing cables
  • Transparent PPF protection film on the top tube of a mountain bike, by the handlebars and bike computer

Good to know.

What’s the difference between PPF and a coating?

A coating is a thin layer that makes your paintwork smoother and repels dirt. PPF is a real layer of film that absorbs knocks and rubbing. So PPF gives better protection against stone chips and chain slap.

How do I apply the film?

You apply it dry, so without water or spray. Clean and degrease the frame, peel off the backing paper and smooth the film from the centre outwards, so no air bubbles are left behind.

Will the film be visible on my bike?

On a gloss frame, hardly: the film is transparent and glossy. Got a matte frame? Then you’ll see the film as a glossy patch. We don’t have a matte version.

Which pack do I need?

Do you ride gravel or mountain bike? Start with Down tube & head tube against stone chips. Does your chain slap against the frame? Choose Chainstay & head tube. Ride with bags? Then Traveller is for you. Want to decide everything yourself? Cut your own shapes from the Do-it-yourself sheet.
